Sinisa Mihajlović of blessed memory was the oldest of Bogdan, a truck driver, and Viktorija, a shoe factory worker’s two sons born on February 20, 1969, in Vukovar, SR Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia. He considered himself both Serbian and Croatian. He started playing football at a very young age playing first for a low-rank club, NK Borovo. He played both as a defender and midfielder. He played almost all his professional football in Italian Serie A, for clubs like Roma, Inter Milan, Lazio, and Sampdoria helping his team to sometimes win league titles. He played for the Yugoslavia national football team from 1991 to 2003 during the 1998 FIFA World Cup, and the UEFA Euro 2000 tournament. Sinisa had a unique way of playing free kicks which made him one of the best in that domain of all time. His unique technique in playing free kicks has earned him the most goals from free-kicks in Italian Serie A with 28 goals.

In 2006, he retired from professional football and took up the position of assistant manager of Inter where.  He served as a manager for six Italian Serie A clubs from 2008 to 2022, some of which are Fiorentina, Torino, A.C. Milan, and Bologna. Apart from that, he served as the coach of the Serbian national team from 2012 to 2013.

In 2019, Sinisa was diagnosed with leukemia which unfortunately took his life on December 16, 2022.
